baby waltz | maternity session | lake county il maternity photographer

I love baby bellies. Add in some gorgeous, yummy, sunset light and a beautiful location, and you’ve reached my happy place. Maternity sessions are some of my most favorite to document, and this one was one of my recent favorites. I loved meeting this fun couple and I can’t wait to meet that little nugget so soon.

colbie | fresh 48 | lake county il newborn photographer

Fresh 48 sessions are quickly becoming some of my most favorite, as I leave the hospital riding the high of a brand new baby every time. With my own kiddos, I loved every second of those first hours and days in the hospital, getting to know one another, and capturing those moments on camera for other families will never get old. Check out one of my latest Fresh 48 sessions from last month <3

This family will forever hold a special place in my heart, for so many reasons. Thanks for inviting me into your lives and hospital room, Hoffman fam! On a scheduling note, Fresh 48 sessions have very limited scheduling, so email us at stephanie@lemonadestandphotography.com to get yours on the books.

mia | birth story | lake county il birth photographer

Earlier this year, Emily, the gorgeous mama and face behind the camera over at Emily Hernandez Photography, contacted me to see if I was interested in photographing the birth of her 5th daughter. I think I literally squealed when I read her message, as documenting a birth had been on my bucket list for a looooooooooong time. As a photographer herself, Emily felt it was time to give her husband a break from camera duty during the birth of their last baby, and I was honored to be on call for this super special event. As we started to get closer to go time, I had butterflies in my stomach and my nervousness was sky high – “what if I didn’t make it in time? what if I woke up to a million missed calls from Emily and blew the whole thing? what if I forgot to charge my battery and it died in the middle of the birth? what if my pictures stunk and I am just not cut out for birth photography?” Thankfully, all of these worries were put to rest on the night of July 15, as I was able to be there, fully charged camera in hand, for sweet Mia Faith’s entrance into this world. Being in the delivery room with Emily and her husband, Carlos kind of felt like a fun little coffee date – lots of laughing and chatting, story sharing, good music playing quietly – you see, Emily is a pro at giving birth and the atmosphere was unbelievably relaxed. I felt instantly comfortable and was in complete awe of these amazing parents and their excitement and joy over the anticipation of meeting their 5th princess. In fact, I had so much fun, I didn’t want to leave and totally invited myself back to the hospital in the morning to document Mia meeting two of her big sisters for the first time! I rode the new baby high for days, and after going through all of the photos from this experience, it’s a given – I must do more of this. Please, please, please – take the time to browse through the photographic journey of Mia’s birth.

I will never be able to thank Emily and Carlos enough for trusting me to capture the memories of this special day for them. It truly was a life-changing experience for me, and one I will never, ever forget. Like I said, I have to figure out a way to do more birth photography. Happy, Happy Birthday, sweet Mia Faith.

#lspandpicsy | joint newborn session | northern il newborn photographer

Last week, I had the most amazing newborn session experience, as I did a joint session with my dear friend, Robin from Picsy Photography. When Shannon, one of our former Simply Fresh Newborn Workshop attendees contacted us to both do her third baby’s newborn photos, we jumped at the opportunity. While we get lots of chances to teach together during our workshops, it’s rare that we can just be newborn photographers together. It was so much fun to bounce ideas off of each other, help each other out, ooh and ahh over a beautiful baby boy, and just spend a few hours doing what we both love! In fact, our heads have now started spinning, as they tend to do, and we might start offering a very select few of these joint sessions in 2016. We still need to hammer out all of the details, but stay tuned! In the meantime, check out precious Austin and his adoring family. We absolutely loved our time with these handsome boys and gorgeous mama, and here our some of our fave shots from the day.
