fresh 48 | lake county il newborn photographer

It’s a new year, and a new type of session is coming to LSP. Last month, I did my very first Fresh 48 session, and I am in love. Fresh 48 sessions are a very different type of newborn session, as they take place in the hospital within the first day or two of birth. They capture the newness of your little one, the raw emotion that comes with getting to know one another, and the awe felt by each new family member. I will always love my traditional newborn sessions, as they are my specialty, and I am very excited about offering Fresh 48 sessions to my clients as well. It’s amazing how much those little ones change in a week, and let’s be honest – you can never have too many pictures of your brand new baby. Check out William and his gorgeous family in my first ever Fresh 48 session.

Fresh 48 sessions will have a very limited availability, so if you are interested in booking one of these sessions, please email me at stephanie@lemonadestandphotography.com. I am so excited to capture more newborn goodness, and love this new addition to the LSP menu. Plus, hanging out with William and his family at the hospital was the best way to finish off 2014 <3

Oh Sir William. This guy gave me a run for my money. He did NOT want to sleep for me and really made me work for each and every pose. When I finished his session, I was *exhausted*. Yet, when I edited his images, I was SO excited. I don’t know if the fact that we had to work a bit harder for each image made me appreciate them a bit more, but I was downright giddy going through them. And, despite the challenge, this gallery is one of my all time faves. Love this sweet family, and so happy for them this little man has joined the bunch. Check out the new Berry family of four –

Every now and then I have a newborn come into the studio who was just made to be posed and photographed. Little Jaxson was that kind of guy. It would be impossible for me to pick a favorite from his session, so enjoy this sampling of all of my favorites.

Oh man, this post is going to be a hard one to put into words. You see, earlier this fall, I had the pleasure of photographing my dear friend Robin and her gorgeous family. You all know Robin – she’s the amazingly talented photographer over at Picsy Photography, and my partner in crime at the Simply Fresh Newborn Workshop. Robin and I started out on this photography journey at the same time, and since both of us are former teachers, we kind of just adopted the collaboration mindset in our businesses, choosing to work together and befriend each other, rather than be competitors. At the time, I really had no idea what was in store – for my business, for me personally, and for what our friendship would turn into.

Fast forward three years, and here we are. Finishing up our third year in our individual businesses, our first year as workshop leaders, and closer friends than ever. But honestly, it wasn’t the smoothest year for me. I struggled – big time.  Personally, professionally, you name it – I’m kind of ready to start fresh in 2015. However, Robin was there for me the whole time – texts, phone calls, little notes to let me know she was thinking about me, as well as big, hard, not so easy conversations – we ran the gamut this year. And here we are – both of us finishing off another photography industry year in the books, looking to bigger and better things in 2015, and for me?? I know that she will always be there for me. I really don’t know if there’s a way for me to truly thank her, so I’m lucky I had the opportunity to do what I do best – take pictures, play with her gorgeous girlies, spend some quality time at my computer, and then present her with images I hope she’ll cherish forever. Check out Robin and her gorgeous family – we were blessed with yummy sun that night, and I was lucky enough to have this beautiful family in front of my camera.

Every now and then, despite everything that may be going on, no matter what stresses I’m experiencing, I try to just take a step back and look at how truly lucky I am. And I am so lucky that my path in this crazy world somehow crossed with Robin’s, and I am blessed to call her one of my closest friends. I hope she forever holds these images of her beautiful family close to her heart, as I will always feel so fortunate for the opportunity to capture them. Love you friend <3
