During our session I like to keep things fun and relaxed, as that’s when we get the best, most natural smiles out of everyone! About a week or so prior to your session, I’ll send you the link to the pre-session questionnaire, which will help us both sort out our thoughts and ideas about what we hope to do during our time together! My goal is to capture the true personalities of your children and families, which means I’ll take a little time at the beginning of the session to get to know you and your kiddos. Family picture day should not be a stressful occasion, and I do everything I can to make it enjoyable for everyone, even Dad;)!
As a former preschool and elementary school teacher, and a mom of three young children myself, I understand that kids don’t always cooperate and do what we want them to do! I like to give kids a little bit of control during a session, letting them make some choices about poses/props, as this tends to make them more excited about participating in the pictures. I love to capture kids being kids, so feel free to bring along a favorite toy or lovey. And expect to laugh a lot (at me) because I tend to do lots of silly things to get my little friends to smile ~ I want these kids to have fun! Also, expect to take a snack break or two during the session just to give the little ones a break and recharge their batteries. However, please remember that tired and/or sick kids just want to be home and not getting their picture taken, so please try to avoid scheduling your session during naptime. And, if your child is sick, please call me to reschedule ~ we want to make the most of our time together and I promise we will work it out!
Most full sessions take about an hour to an hour and a half, and you can expect to get a mixture of posed and candid images. Sessions with extended family members will take a bit longer, with mini sessions lasting about a half hour to 45 minutes. Newborn sessions are a whole different ballgame, so please see the separate “newborn session tips” for newborn sessions. After your session is over, I know you will be dying to see the pictures, and trust me ~ I can’t wait to edit them! I spend quite a bit of time going through and only selecting the images that I think are both the highest quality I can provide you and are the memories that as a mom, I would want captured on film! My goal is to have your images completed within 3-4 weeks of your session, if not sooner. I will also post a sneak peek album on Facebook for you to share with all of your friends and family if you’d like! Please note that I do prioritize my newborn sessions, as those brand new little ones change so quickly and their parents have birth announcements to send out. Because of this, my goal is to get newborn sessions edited within a week to 10 days of your session.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding your session ~ I want your picture day to be fun, relaxed and stress free! Can’t wait to see you!
